What's the purpose of this page?

This page is a digital space for our community to come together since the bushfire which started in Cudlee Creek on 20 December 2019.

This page will grow as we move through the coming months and years together. We’re hoping this site will help us all be better prepared for the future. We want to work with you through this recovery and are here to help. If there is anything else you would like Council to help with, please let us know.

  • SA Recovery hotline - phone 1800 302 787 between 8am and 8pm
  • Services Australia contains information about: events, financial assistance, grants, small business support, free assistance and advice, justice of the peace information, opportunities for donations, livestock and public health information.
  • AHC Home hosts a number of Council recovery related matters such as: rates support, planning and building information, bin replacement, hard rubbish and green waste

  • Further extension granted for waste vouchers

    A second extension has been granted for all waste vouchers issued as a result of the Cudlee Creek Bushfire. The new expiry date for vouchers is 30 June 2021.

    Vouchers that have already been distributed, and bear an expiry of 30 December 2020, will be honoured until the new expiry date at any of the three drop off centres listed on the voucher.

    New vouchers can still be requested; call 8408 0400 to do so.

  • Financial Counselling and Grant Assistance Available

    Anyone impacted by the bushfires and experiencing financial hardship is encouraged to access free and confidential financial counselling.

    Karyn is a financial counsellor who will be ay the Recovery Centre assisting anyone that needs help including with grants that may be available at the time.

    You can access a walk-in service or can contact the helpline on 1800 722 363 to book an appointment.

    We encourage all people experiencing financial hardship since the fire to engage with our service and the Recovery Centre.

    The Cudlee Creek Recovery Community Reference Group and local hall committees, are bringing you a series of local, grass roots events at your local hall!

    Your Hall Your Hub is about bringing the community together to connect and share ideas and information about local community programs, events, groups and sports. It is also an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming bushfire season by talking with CFS engagement officers about bushfire preparation for your property.

    Picture table tennis, sausage sizzles, picnics, craft, local history, bowls and bands - each hall event is unique, but all will have local people to say hello to and helpful CFS information.

    Town halls are amazing community hubs - come and connect!

  • Feedback wanted: Cuddlee Creek Forest Trails Fire Recovery Strategy

    Have your say on the post-fire recreation and tourism opportunities identified for ForestrySA’s Cudlee Creek Forest Reserve and Fox Creek Bike Park.

    More than 700 responses contributed to the development of the fire recovery strategy, which aims to establish how the future forest can contribute to the community, recreational and economic wellbeing of the Adelaide Hills community.

    What do you think about the identified recreational improvements, opportunities, experiences and facilities for the visitor and trail network? Did we get the mix right? Did we miss something?

    Your views are important in developing a sustainable future for recreation in the Cudlee Creek Forest Reserve.

    ForestrySA would like your feedback on the draft Cudlee Creek Forest Reserve Fire Recovery Strategy, incorporating Fox Creek Bike Park. The consultation is open to everyone.

  • New youth education and workplace grant

    Young people aged between 15 and 25 living in bushfire-affected communities are encouraged to apply for the Youth Education and Workplace Pathways Grants.

    The grant, co-funded by the Bendigo Bank and Salvation Army offers $3,000 to support young people’s educational development and further their workplace aspirations.

    The grant can help with:

    • Out of pocket expenses for Government Courses, TAFE Programs, transition courses or other identified educational programs

    • The purchase of study related or employment related materials such as laptops, books or tools

    • Transport costs to and from employment, the purchase of safety equipment for courses, or personal needs for improving employment interview presentation.

    Our Biodiversity Team has put together a new edition of their popular Native Gardening Guide, focusing on plants with a low-flammability. You can find the guide in the document library to the right of screen, or on our website.

  • Free workshop and Q&A for bushfire recovery

    Created and driven by the Community Reference Group for the Cudlee Creek bushfire recovery process.

    • Date: Saturday 15 August
    • Time: 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm
    • Location: Lobethal Centennial Hall
    • Cost: Free

    Aimed at anyone who is in the process of rebuilding or planning to in the future. A group of professionals including architects, council planners, CFS assessment officers and landscape designers will be providing presentations and form a panel for a Q and A session for the community.

  • Bushfire Grant for Primary Industries extended to 31 December

    Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) have extended the application deadline for their bushfire emergency response grant until 31 December 2020.

    If you were a primary producer affected by the Cudlee Creek or Kangaroo Island bushfires in December 2019 you may be eligible to receive funding.

  • Tip vouchers will be honoured to 31 December 2020

    Residents affected by the Cudlee Creek Bush Fire who have collected a tip voucher for the free disposal of waste will have those vouchers accepted through to 31 December 2020. No new vouchers will be required.

    Vouchers are still available upon request for all properties within the fire scar, regardless of damage.
