Do I have to register to be part of the workshops?
The workshops are for people wanting to be part of the vision and design stage of the project before the concept design is drafted and broader community engagement occurs.
The workshop venue does have a capacity, so registering is helpful.
Follow the prompts on the project home page to register.
If you're having trouble registering, or don't want to create a log in, please email Stacey Dutton via sdutton@ahc.sa.gov.au to let us know you'd like to attend.
Do I have to attend both Vision and Design working group workshops?
If you are interested in being part of the vision and design stage of the project then we encourage you to attend both workshops. But if you can't attend both that is okay.
What's included in the upgrade?
$220,000 is allocated to upgrade the play space. A portion of the budget will need to cover design, demolition, site preparation and landscaping. The remaining costs will be used on the play space elements (for example equipment, seating etc).
What's not included in the upgrade?
Not included in the project is associated infrastructure (upgrades or new) such as lighting, bbqs, public toilets, parking, and shade sails.
Will there be an opportunity to talk to someone in person?
Council will be facilitating 2 x Vision and Design Workshops to help inform the design of the play space with a landscape architect. Anyone is welcome to come along and be a part of these workshops as we've love to see all ages represented. The workshops will be held at the Uraidla Hotel (Hills Hoist Room). The first Workshop will be held on 3 September, 5:30pm and the second Workshop will be held on Tuesday 24th September, 5:30pm.
Alternatively you are welcome to contact council and have a chat about this project!
What's the budget for the project?
$220,000 is the maximum budget. This needs to be split between design/site preparation works and play equipment/furniture/landscaping (dependent upon the final design).
Who should share their ideas and thoughts?
We welcome all feedback. Council is inviting comment from all park users such as local residents, key community groups, local schools and childcare centers. Parents, grandparents and carers who may take children to the play space are welcome.
How can I provide my feedback/input?
When will construction start?
Community consultation will be undertaken in 2024 and construction will start in 2025. We'll keep you posted.
How long will it take to construct the play space?
It's expected it will take about 3-4 months to construct the new play space (weather dependent).
What happens to the existing equipment?
Due to the responsibilities council has in keeping the community safe, it is necessary that we decommission and dispose of the existing playground equipment.
