Notification of upcoming works and road vehicle detours – Sprigg Road, Piccadilly

Adelaide Hills Council wishes to advise that a road closure and vehicle detours will be implemented to the eastern end of Sprigg Road Piccadilly. These traffic controls are required to enable tree works to occur.

Type of works: Tree pruning to remove deadwood and reduce crown volume of one Fraxinus angustifolia subsp. angustifolia (commonly known as Desert Ash) and four Populus deltoides (commonly known as Cottonwoods) will be undertaken. The subject trees are situated within the southern road verge of Sprigg Road within a 100m proximity of the Piccadilly Road intersection.

Date of works: Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd May 2023.

Time of Works: 7:00am – 4:00pm.

Reason for works: Adelaide Hills Council engaged an independent arboricultural consultant to assess the condition of the subject trees. The assessment findings concluded that substantial lateral branch reduction and pruning to remove deadwood is required to reduce the probability of branch failure occurring over the roadway and private property.

Vehicle restrictions / Road detour: To enable works to be conducted in a safe manner, the use of various machinery is required. This equipment will be positioned on the road surface requiring temporary modifications to traffic movements on Sprigg Road. During the indicated time of works, closure of Sprigg Road will be implemented between number 2 and number 8 Sprigg Road.

Throughout the duration of the works a comprehensive work zone traffic management plan will be implemented. Road users will be detoured around the worksite via alternative roads.

Pedestrian access within properties adjacent to the worksite will be maintained, please note delays may occur. Impacted residents within these properties who require to leave this area via vehicle, are requested to move their vehicles out of the area prior to works commencing.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions, please contact Council’s Open Spaces Department between the hours of 9:00am to 3pm Monday to Friday.

Yours sincerely,

Open Spaces Department
