Notification of upcoming tree works and road closure - Stonehenge Avenue Stirling
8th December 2023
Notification of upcoming tree management works – Stonehenge Avenue Stirling
Adelaide Hills Council wishes to advise that the following works will be undertaken within Stonehenge Avenue Stirling:
Works: Habitat pruning of one Eucalyptus obliqua – Messmate Stringybark – will be undertaken.
Location: As per the attached aerial map, the trees are located on the AHC verge adjacent to number 9 Stonehenge Avenue Stirling.
Date of works: Thursday 14th December 2023 11:00am – 4:00pm.
Reason for tree works: The Eucalyptus obliqua is completely dead and displays brittle terminal branching structure which projects over low voltage powerlines and both lanes of Stonehenge Avenue. The primary branch unions and main stem are stable, and the tree has been identified as being suitable for medium to long-term retention as a habitat tree. Pruning will be undertaken to reduce the crown to its primary branching structure.
Vehicle restrictions: To enable works to be undertaken in a safe manner, the use of an Elevated Work Platform (EWP) is required. As the EWP has a substantial footprint, closure of Stonehenge Ave, between property numbers 3 and 11 will be required. Throughout the duration of the works a comprehensive work zone traffic management plan will be implemented. Residents of properties in the affected area will still be able to access their properties but are advised that delays may occur. To avoid disruption, we ask for impacted residents within the affected area to review the location of the worksite and select the appropriate street access point.
Access to properties and the sporting facilities south of 11 Stonehenge Avenue will be via a detour utilising Orley Avenue and Madeline Road.
Usable timber from the works will be left in manageable lengths on the verge for collection for firewood by local residents. Please note, access to the work site is strictly prohibited during the works. Residents will be able to collect wood once the works have been completed.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
