Notification of upcoming tree works and road closure - 16 Branch Road Stirling

Adelaide Hills Council wishes to advise that the following works will be undertaken within Branch Road, Stirling:

Works: Complete tree removal of one Eucalyptus obliqua – Messmate Stringybark - and habitat pruning of one Eucalyptus obliqua – Messmate Stringybark – will be undertaken. Following the tree removal, the stump will be ground below surface level as a part of AHC’s programmed stump removal works.

Location: As per the attached aerial maps, the trees are located on the AHC verge adjacent to number 16 Branch Road Stirling.

Date of pruning and removal works: Friday 15th December 2023 7:30am – 4:00pm.

Reason for tree works: Both trees have experienced a serious decline in health. The Eucalyptus obliqua located near the retaining wall has been identified as having significant structural defects which make it unsuitable for retention. The Eucalyptus obliqua adjacent to the driveway has been identified as being suitable for medium to long term retention as habitat tree. Pruning will be undertaken to reduce the crown to its primary branching structure.

Vehicle restrictions: To enable works to be undertaken in a safe manner, the use of an Elevated Work Platform (EWP) is required. As the EWP has a substantial footprint, closure of Branch Road from property numbers 11 and 14 to the end of the road will be required. Residents in the affected area will still be able to access their properties by foot during the works but are advised that delays may occur. Throughout the duration of the works, a comprehensive work zone traffic management plan will be implemented. To avoid disruption, we ask for impacted residents within Branch Road to review the location of the worksite and move vehicles out of the affected area prior to works commencing.

Usable timber from the works will be left in manageable lengths on the verge for collection for firewood by local residents. Please note, access to the work site is strictly prohibited during the works. Residents will be able to collect wood once the works have been completed.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

If you have any questions, please contact Council on 8408 0400.
