Construction Works Notification - Cox Creek Bridgewater

20 April 2026

As part of the Cox Creek Restoration Project, we are undertaking embankment stabilisation works in a section of the creek next to the Bridgewater Oval.

This bend in the creek has experienced significant erosion leading to bank collapse, and the site has been identified as a high priority site as further erosion of the embankment threatens the driveway access to the oval above.

The bank erosion will be controlled using rock stabilisation, which involves the placement of large rocks against the face of the batter to protect the bank from further erosion. Rock stabilisation is a widely used technique for the control of waterway bank erosion and provides a more natural appearance than other engineered solutions.

The project will commence around Wednesday the 29th of April and is expected to take approximately 2 weeks to complete, weather permitting. During this period, a section of the Heysen Trail / Pioneer Women’s Trail will be closed to the public between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Advanced notice signage of the trail closure will be installed before the works commence.
