TEMPORARY BOARDWALK REPAIR - March 2023 *COMPLETED 5 March 2023*

WORKS: The boardwalk sections that were damaged in the late 2022 storm are going to be temporarily repaired to re-open the lake trail, allowing walkers to use the boardwalks again.

WHEN: As soon as possible - resource and weather permitting we hope to get the repairs completed sometime in March 2023.

WHY: Council expected to have begun the replacement of the boardwalk job much sooner, however due to unforeseen costs of the project, there are delays to this project. Whilst these delays are managed and the job progressed, Council will complete a temporary repair on the boardwalks.

See below for permanent work details.

    ________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Works: Boardwalk Replacement

When: End 2023 - weather and materials permitting

Where: Woorabinda Reserve - western side of the lake

What: The two boardwalks are being replaced with new boardwalks and will include some design changes including kick rails (to help prevent mobility devices and prams from rolling off the edge) and passing points for two prams/mobility devices to pass more easily.

Why: One section of the boardwalk was damaged in a storm during November 2022, and both are at the end of their useful life.

TRAIL IN HENDER RESERVE CLOSED FOR SAFETY REASONS

    Works: Trail Closure (Permanent)

    When: 14 December 2022 (ongoing)

Where: Hender Reserve between Hender Road and the Railway line.

What: Close existing trail leading from Hender Reserve to railway and on to Woorabinda Drive/Mabel Street.

Why: The trail leads to high-risk informal crossing point over the railway line.

We are working with the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to encourage the community to use the designated crossing further south along the railway line.

We would like to thank you for your support by using the formal pedestrian crossing, and by not moving or removing fallen timbers within the Reserves.
