Infrastructure, Road and Footpath Construction

Adelaide Hills Council wishes to advise that we will be undertaking the following works within the council managed road verge to the northern side of the Woodside to Lobethal Road.

Works:

• Removal of ten trees to enable the establishment of new tree plantings.
• Removal of three sections of fire impacted / low value verge vegetation.
• New tree planting of 105 Quercus palustris trees (commonly known as Pin Oaks).

Location:

• Northern verge of Woodside to Lobethal Road (from the eastern bridge to Greabers Road)
• Tree removals will occur in various locations along the roadway, several trees indigenous to the area will be retained and new trees planted to either sides.
• Please refer to the aerial map for further information regarding the location of works.

Date of works:

• Tree Removal Works between Monday 4 April to Friday 8 April 2022
• Tree Planting Works between Tuesday 19 April to Friday 29 April 2022

Time of works:

7:00am – 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Traffic management:

During these works sections of the roadway will be reduced to one trafficable lane. A comprehensive work zone traffic management plan will be implemented with speed restrictions and stop / go traffic commands implemented. While all attempts will be made to minimise inconvenience to road users, the traffic restrictions are required for the safety of workers on site. Vehicle access to properties in this location will be maintained.

Stage 2 of the Lobethal Chimney Restoration on Mill Road will commence on Monday 21^st March 2022 and will continue through till 30^th May 2022.

The chimney forms part of Lobethal’s early history and is included in the State Heritage Place listing over the ex-woollen mill site. As part of the planned restoration work and to address significant safety issues we will need to close the southern entry to Mill Road over two stages for a total period of 8 – 12 weeks. Our primary interest in closing this end of Mill Road is the physical safety of contractors undertaking this work and residents and motorists using Mill Road.

Why are the works taking place?

We’re undertaking these works as the chimney is deteriorating to a point it will become unsafe in the near future. The chimney forms an important part of Lobethal’s History and the planned works are being funded from sale proceeds of the Woollen Mill site divestment.

When are the works taking place?

Stage two:

Thursday 24th March to Monday 30^th May 2022.

The works will be undertaken between 7am and 7pm on weekdays.

Where are the works taking place?

The work will be limited to the area directly around the chimney and will require scaffold to be erected out onto the road carriageway.

What does this mean for you?

Access to Mill Road from Lobethal Road (southern end of Mill Road) will be closed for the duration of Stage 2 restoration work during the dates indicated above. Detours will be in place as indicated by the map over the page.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) is undertaking major pavement rehabilitation works on the South Eastern Freeway between Bridgewater and Callington at the following locations:

• Site A: Outbound lanes between Bridgewater Interchange and Hahndorf/Woodside/Birdwood Interchange;
• Site B: Outbound lanes near the truck rest area towards Callington
• Site C: Citybound lanes between Back Callington Road to Summit Road
• Site D: Citybound lanes between Bald Hills Road, Mount Barker and Mount Barker Interchange

Times of works

Early works are scheduled to commence in early March 2022 and will take approximately one week to complete. Following this, major works will commence and are expected to be completed in mid 2022, weather permitting.

Major works will commence in Site B and will then move progressively to Site C, Site D and Site A.

Works will be undertaken at night, between the hours of 7pm and 6am, Sunday to Friday.

We have been advised of programming changes works at the intersection of the SE Freeway, Cross Road, Glen Osmond Road, and Portrush Road.

From Monday, 31 January 2022, works are being undertaken intermittently on all four sections of the intersection for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Works will be undertaken Sunday to Friday between 7pm and 6am. Speed and lanes restrictions with be in place during working hours.

The project is expected to be complete in early 2022, weather permitting.

When: From Sunday, 23 January until Early February 2022. Works will be undertaken Sunday to Friday between 7pm and 6am.

Where: Works will be undertaken on the eastbound lanes of Cross Road from east of Birksgate Drive to the intersection and the northbound lanes of Glen Osmond Road from the intersection to north of Chapel Street - section 4 in the map attached.

Speed and lanes restrictions with be in place in the vicinity of the works with Cross Road and Glen Osmond Road reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction during working hours.

Outside of work hours all lanes will be open to traffic with speed restrictions in place.

Time of Works: 9:00am – 3:30pm.

Location:

The trees are situated within the road verge adjacent to 180 Mount Barker Road Aldgate, approximately 150m north of the intersection of Mount Barker Road and Arkaba Road Aldgate. Please refer to the below site map.

Type of Works:

Tree branch reduction pruning to two large dead Eucalypt trees situated within the Council road verge.

Reason For Works:

Branch reduction pruning is required to reduce the likelihood of tree part failure occurring over the road corridor. These tree works are necessary to manage the associated risks posed to people and property.

Traffic Impacts:

• During the works a comprehensive work zone traffic management plan will be implemented along Mount Barker Road.
• Mount Barker Road will be reduced down to one trafficable lane past the tree work site. Traffic flow will be controlled with stop / go traffic commands.
• These traffic restrictions will cause minor delays to traffic flow, all attempts will be made to limit impacts to road users.

On behalf of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, DM Roads will be installing a Rural Active Warning System at the junction of Gorge Road and Torrens Hill Road, Paracombe.

The Rural Active Warning System, triggered by vehicles approaching from side roads, is designed to improve safety for motorists by using variable speed-limit signs to slow down traffic at rural intersections or junctions.

Works are scheduled to commence on Monday, 29 November 2021, with completion expected in early February 2022, weather permitting.

Works will be undertaken Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7am and 5pm, with some weekend works as required.

Gorge Road and Torrens Hill Road will remain open with a 25 km/h speed restriction in place while workers are on site. Other speed and lane restrictions may apply, subject to onsite conditions.

Adelaide Hills Council have recently undertaken a comprehensive tree audit of all trees within council playgrounds and recreational spaces within the district.

As a result of this audit various tree works have been identified within the Aldgate RSL Playground / Courts precinct and adjacent to Mount Barker Road.

Works are scheduled to commence on Monday 29^nd November and be completed on Wednesday 1^th of December (weather permitting).

Works will be undertaken within the location between the hours of 7:30am to 4:00pm each day.

Various maintenance tree pruning works will be undertaken in conjunction with a single dead tree removal on Mount Barker Road.

To enable these works occur comprehensive traffic controls will be implemented on Mount Barker Road, with stop go traffic commands implemented.

Traffic flow in either direction will be maintained. The Aldgate courts will be closed for a short period of time to complete two jobs surrounding the playing surface.

Works are scheduled to commence on Monday 22^nd November and be completed by Wednesday 24^th of November (weather permitting).

Works will be undertaken within the location between the hours of 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday.

Various maintenance tree pruning works will be undertaken in conjunction with five complete tree removals.

To enable these works occur the playground will be closed during the hours of work.

Portions of the timber generated from felled trees will be left piled onsite at the request of surrounding residents.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) is undertaking major road pavement rehabilitation works on the South Eastern Freeway/ Cross Road/ Portrush Road and Glen Osmond Road intersection and at all approaches to the intersection.

The works involve removing existing pavement and replacing it with new asphalt to ensure the long term safety and integrity of the intersection for all road users.

Major works will be undertaken in four separate sections , with activities underway in only one section at a time. Throughout the construction program works will return to each section on around three occasions.

Roads will remain open, with two way traffic maintained at all times and speed restrictions in place. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone during work hours. Please expect some delays. Outside of work hours all lanes will be open to traffic with speed restrictions in place.

Project completion is expected in early 2022.
