Update October 2024
Council has reviewed the feedback received from six participants and as seen in the Consultation Outcomes Report there was a significant level of support for the dry zone.
Council submitted an application for the dry area to Consumer and Business Services at the conclusion of the consultation outlining the results. The application was approved, and a notice was published in the Government Gazette on Thursday 19 September.
Thank you again to all who provided feedback in this consultation.
Update 7 August 2024
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. Council have reviewed your comments and have submitted an application for the dry area to Consumer and Business Services outlining the results. An update will be provided on this page in the coming weeks regarding the outcome of the application.
We are seeking feedback on a proposed dry area in Lobethal township to run between 7:00pm and 7:00am every night between Saturday 7 December 2024 and Wednesday 1 January 2025. As this period is longer than 48 hours public consultation is required.
The declaration of this dry area is made annually, to ensure activities in Lobethal township remain 'family friendly' and to allow SA Police to proactively manage potential alcohol-related anti-social behaviour during this period. This dry area has been well received in recent years and is considered to be a successful initiative.
The Lights of Lobethal Festival will run from the 7 December – 22 December. The dry zone has been requested up till the 1 January 2025 to account for visitors coming to view the lights over the Christmas to New Year period after the festival has officially finished.
Please provide your feedback before 11:59pm Tuesday 6 August 2024.
A detailed map and description of the Dry Area is available in the document library (right hand side of this page)
