Consultation has concluded

Update May 2022

The Lenswood play space is now officially open and it looks great! There are lots of quiet little nooks & activities for young children and a climbing & swinging cube for the big kids to test their strength. Seating & shelter for caregivers will be a bonus and such a great space for Lenswood locals, or those watching cricket at the oval during the summer months. Be sure to check out the apple shaped rocker which is perfect for Lenswood.

Update March 2022

Site establishment for the new play space at Lenswood Oval will begin in the week starting 14 March with completion expected to be mid April. Council can also now confirm that after consideration of community concerns around not enough shade, there will be a shelter provided at the play space over the planned picnic seating as seen below.

Update January 2022

Council would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the 90 Participants in the Stage 1 consultation and the 12 Participants in the Stage 2 consultation to assist in the development and finalisation of the concept plan for the Lenswood Oval Play Space. The Stage 2 Consultation Report is now available and we can confirm that demolition of the existing play space and construction of the new one will occur in approximately April 2022.

We anticipate that the new play space will be complete by 30 June 2022 (weather dependant).

Please come back here to check on updates as we go.

Thanks again!

The Lenswood Oval play space upgrade was identified in Council’s 2021/22 Annual Business Plan process and $180,000 is allocated to build it. A portion of which will need to cover landscaping and site preparation and the remaining costs will be on the play space elements (equipment, seating, and signage).

This play space is classified as a ‘Local’ Play Space. A ‘Local’ Play Space in the Adelaide Hills Council is:

  • An area intended for local play, often equipment based
  • Visited by people who live nearby, sometimes by foot, for a short period of time.
  • Additional general characteristics of this type of play space can be found in Council's Sport and Recreation Strategy 2017 - 2021, pp 22 - 24.

Not included in the project is formal shade structure, lighting, bbqs, public toilets, parking and fencing.
