Important information regarding Development Services
Important information on lodging Development Applications
We appreciate the difficulties and challenge our community, and communities around Australia and the world, are experiencing as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Please be advised that Council’s Development Assessment Services will continue to be delivered during the COVID19 crisis, subject to ongoing government advice.
However, in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines and government health advice, in-person meetings will no longer be undertaken and lodgement of development applications should be via:
- email to email@example.com or
- our online portal Objective Connect (click here for a how-to guide). The portal must be used when submitting large documents/applications over 10mb but can be used for any sized application.
Using the Online Portal
Many of you may already use this as our service has been operating on a paperless basis for the last two years. This is a secure site which is government compliant and you only have to create a sign-in once. If you have already signed in with another Council you do not need to create a new log in for each council. Documents can be sent as one document or multiple documents and our staff will re-name them accordingly. We have listened to previous feedback about file transfers and wish to confirm that you can drag & drop your documents into Objective Connect as per the “Adding Documents” section of the attached guide. If you require assistance please contact Sarah Kimber on firstname.lastname@example.org
Staff will contact you after receipt of the electronic information with details of fees required. Please note due to cyber security risks Adelaide Hills Council will not download documents from other portal systems.
Hard copy lodgement
Council’s libraries and front counter service centres are closed. If you do not have the ability to send your application(s) electronically, applications can be hand-delivered to:
- Coventry Library, 63 Mount Barker Road Stirling (subject to change as restrictions alter. Please follow signage for delivery instructions).
Documents delivered in this manner may be quarantined for five days to minimise the risk to our staff and service operation. This process will by necessity result in delays in the lodgement/processing of your hardcopy application or private certification. Delays can be avoided by submitting formation electronically and we encourage this form of lodgement.
Payment of fees
Administration staff will create an invoice for the applicable fees and email this to you or contact you by phone. The Council contact centre is open on 8408 0400 during business hours to take payments over the telephone; you will need your Development Application Reference.
Development Application payments can now also be made online. Once your documents have been submitted and you've received a Development Application Number and invoice, you can pay via our online portal. Please note that part payments cannot be made. If this is not suitable please phone 8408 0400 to make a part payment over the phone.
Processing and communication around new applications
Council will process your development application or private certification and provide the decision notification and stamped plans to you electronically (or the applicant in the case of private certification). All communication regarding planning and development advice and development applications can be made via telephone, video call, email or our website. Note, that staff have been asked to work from home and will continue to process applications electronically, or be available to provide advice via the aforementioned channels.
Development Applications already submitted
If you have a development application in with our Council and are dealing with a particular staff member, then continue to liaise with them via email or telephone regarding the progression of your application. If they are unavailable due to COVID-19 changing conditions, then please contact Deryn Atkinson, Manager Development Services, on 8408 0512 or Sam Clements, Team Leader Statutory Planning on 8408 0534 for assistance.
Council recognises that there is significant concern in the community around Coronavirus (COVID-19) and we have set up this page on our website to keep you updated on Council services and programs and to share relevant community information.
