We want to chat about getting around our district by bike.

Council has a key role in making sure everyone has options to get around our district (including people without a car). That means joining up the missing links in our bike networks and advocating and implementing improvements to infrastructure where it is feasible. We are exploring the community need for bike infrastructure in the Adelaide Hills Council Area. We want to remove barriers to and encourage use of active travel*. We want to understand what you want and need to make riding a bike as part of your journey.

How will feedback shape our work?

There is plenty that local Councils can do to give people more options to move around safely and enjoyably – we’re starting by exploring bike infrastructure. Depending on community needs, demographics and other trends, we will be considering where we need to install additional infrastructure (such as bike lockers, paths, bike racks, bus shelters) to encourage active travel by bus and bike. The overarching goal is removing barriers and providing opportunities that encourage active travel.

How can you help?

We need your help to identify the most important areas for bike infrastructure to allow more people to complete their commute/travel by bike.

Do you want to ride but there is something getting in the way, or do you want to complete your journey by bike and bus but keep getting stuck? Is being more physically active, or reducing your carbon footprint important but the alternative options available are prohibitive for you?

Tell us more about what would help you be more active in your commuting and travel pursuits using any of the following:

  1. Using the online feedback form and mapping tool below
  2. Emailing engage@ahc.sa.gov.au
  3. Mailing to Community Engagement Coordinator, Adelaide Hills Council, 63 Mount Barker Road, Stirling SA 5152
  4. Phoning 8408 0400
  5. Collecting a hardcopy feedback form from any Council Service Centre or Library at Stirling, Gumeracha or Woodside.

For feedback to be considered it must be received by Council no later than 2pm, Wednesday 2 October 2024

Anyone can take part in this engagement opportunity.

*Active travel is any mode of travel that relies on human powered mobility (such as bike, bus and walking).
