  • Notification of upcoming tree removal works – Stradbroke Road Bridge, Woodforde

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link
    supporting image

Adelaide Hills Council wishes to advise that the following works will be undertaken within the Fourth Creek Bridge on Stradbroke Road, Woodforde.

Works: Removal of 1 x Eucalyptus camaldulensis - River Red Gum.

Location: As per the attached map, immediately east of the roadway of Stradbroke Road, Woodforde, located within the northern wingwall of the Fourth Creek Bridge.

    Date of works: Tuesday 12th March – Wednesday 13th March, 7:00am – 3:30pm.

Reason for tree works: The bridge wingwall requires repair due to structural failure. The presence and growth of the tree within the wingwall has contributed to its structural failure and compromised its stability, leading to concerns about its ability to support the weight and function of the bridge effectively. This bridge is an essential piece of infrastructure, and the tree needs to be removed in order to effectively reconstruct the wingwall and mitigate the risk of potential accidents or structural collapse. Council acknowledges the unfortunate loss of amenity that will result as part of this tree removal works occurring but notes that a natural succession of River Red Gum is developing within the reserve to the east of the tree, which over time will offset this removal. These tree removal works are essential to maintain the safe use of the road carriageway into the future.

Vehicle Restrictions: To enable the tree to be removed in a safe manner, the use of various types of large machinery is required in the roadway. As this equipment has a substantial footprint, residents are advised that access to the roadway will be restricted during the period described above. The roadway will still be open to vehicle traffic, however residents are advised that delays may occur. Emergency vehicle access through the work site will be maintained. Throughout the duration of the works a comprehensive work zone traffic management plan will be implemented.

We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause and thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

If you have any questions, please contact Council on 08 8408 0400.
