When: Work is planned to begin on Tuesday 10 November on Martin Hill Road. Checker Hill Road work will commence directly following this. Both roads will be sealed during the week ending Friday 27 November, weather permitting.
Why: These locations were selected for Black Spot funding based on historical vehicle accident data.
Important information: During these works speed restrictions and lane closures will be in place, resulting in traffic delays. Private driveways on both roads will be intermittently effected, however the contractor will be available to coordinate work around traffic movements from these properties. Residents in the immediate area have received a letter containing the contractor's details and a Variable Message Board (VMS) digital sign is in place on the roadside advising passing traffic as of Monday 9 November.

Private and Council: Pokey Park Stirling
Share Private and Council: Pokey Park Stirling on Facebook Share Private and Council: Pokey Park Stirling on Twitter Share Private and Council: Pokey Park Stirling on Linkedin Email Private and Council: Pokey Park Stirling linkThe Stirling Business Association (SBA) has been collaborating with Adelaide Hills Council (AHC) on the creation of a new community space within the main street of Stirling.
Where: Pokey Park will be located between Hokey Pokey and Audre Lynx Apparel, in the front section of a laneway that is currently designated as a vehicle entry point into the rear carpark. This vehicle entry was essential when IGA was located at the rear but is no longer required for public access as there are five other entry points into the carpark. There is a colourful mural installed on the Hokey Pokey side wall, but otherwise this space is grey and unattractive.
The disabled access carpark will be moved to the loading zone in front of CJs hairdressing.
What: The plan is to close the laneway to vehicles and create a small pop-up park with planter boxes and seating. Pokey Park sits on private land that the property owner is making available for the purpose of creating a pop-up park to test this concept.
This project aligns with the Stirling Village Mainstreet Design Guidelines which were developed in 2019 by AHC and can be access here: https://engage.ahc.sa.gov.au/stirling-main-street-design-guidelines
These guidelines encourage development outcomes that strengthen the unique village character, allow businesses to thrive, improve movement and access along and through the main street and surrounds and create additional public spaces for community activities and outdoor dining.
When: The aim is to have the pop-up park installed as soon as possible.
Further verge landscaping and bus stop works will occur in 2021 and will be managed by the AHC.
