Verdun Interchange Upgrade - Temporary Traffic Diversions Notice

22 April 2026

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport are upgrading the Verdun Interchange to create better connections between Adelaide Hills and the freeway, supporting population growth.

The existing Verdun Interchange will be upgraded to a full interchange, allowing access to and from the South Eastern Freeway in all directions.

What's happening

To safely construct the new westbound exit ramp (towards Bridgewater) and the new underpass below the existing westbound entry ramp, a temporary traffic diversion is required.

How this affects you

From mid-April 2026, part of the existing westbound entry ramp will close.

Traffic will be redirected onto a temporary westbound entry ramp between the South Eastern Freeway and the existing entry ramp (refer to the map below).

This arrangement will remain in place until early 2027.

Signage will be in place to guide road users and speed restrictions will apply to keep everyone safe. Please follow the signs and take care when travelling through the area.

When

Traffic will be redirected onto a temporary westbound entry ramp from mid-April until early 2027, weather permitting.

Where

Westbound entry ramp between South Eastern Freeway and existing entry ramp.
