North East Road - Night Works Notice

27 March 2026

What's happening

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) are completing line marking and installing audio tactile line marking (ATLM) on North East Road, Houghton to Millbrook. To minimise disruption to road users, these works will be undertaken at night.

ATLM is used to reduce “run-off-road’ or cross carriageway crashes by creating a noise (audio) and vibratory (tactile) warning to road users who have strayed from the road lane.

How this might affect you

To keep everyone safe during night works, sections of North East Road will be closed intermittently while line marking is completed:

  • Between Houghton Hollow Road and Blackhill Road - Monday 30 March, Tuesday 31 March, and Sunday 19 April 2026, weather permitting.
  • Between Paracombe Road and Tippett Road - Wednesday 1 April, Monday 20 April, and Tuesday 21 April 2026, weather permitting.

Please see maps on the DIT website for detour information, plan your trips, observe signage and follow the direction of onsite traffic controllers.

Speed and lane restrictions will remain in place at all times, including outside of work hours, as required.

Access to businesses and surrounding properties will be maintained, with advance notice provided if there is a need to restrict driveway access temporarily. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times during works.

Some noise disturbance can be expected at times while these works are completed, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to nearby residents and businesses as much as practically possible.
