Restoration of historic Lobethal Woollen Mill chimney

The historic Woollen Mill chimney at Mill Road, Lobethal will undergo significant restoration works to extend its life for future generations to appreciate.

The chimney represents an important part of Lobethal’s early history and is included in the State Heritage Place register as part of the former woollen mill site.

As part of the planned restoration work and to ensure the safety of construction contractors, residents, pedestrians and motorists, Council will conduct works over two stages which will require the southern entry to Mill Road to be closed for a total period of 8–12 weeks.

Stage 2 — Monday 7 February to Monday 21 March 2022 (to be confirmed).

Works will be undertaken between 7am and 7pm on weekdays.

Traffic flow impacts

The work will be limited to the area directly around the chimney and as scaffolding will be erected onto the road carriageway, access to Mill Road from Lobethal Road (southern end of Mill Road) will be closed for the duration of each stage of the restoration work during the dates indicated above.
