Montacute bridge vehicle weight limits in place

A load limit has been applied to a bridge on Montacute Road in Montacute to reduce the likelihood of overloading the existing bridge. Signage has been put in place to give drivers of heavy vehicles advanced notice and detour options. Detours will remain in place until the bridge works are complete.

A structural condition assessment was undertaken on the Montacute Road Bridge and it concluded that significant structural rehabilitation works are required. A consultant has been engaged to develop a design that replaces the existing bridge with a new structure. The objective of this structural design is to improve road safety for all users by replacing the deficient structure that has exceeded its serviceable design life.

A load rating is being applied to reduce the likelihood of overloading the existing bridge in the interim.

A start date for the bridge works has not been confirmed and we will let the community know ahead of construction.
