Junction Creek Bridge Works - Onkaparinga Valley Road, Balhannah

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) is upgrading a series of bridges and culverts across regional South Australia to extend the service life of the structures and improve safety for road users.

As part of these works, the Department are upgrading the bridge over Junction Creek, on Onkaparinga Valley Road, near Bridge Street Balhannah. These works are jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments.

What to expect

Works to upgrade the bridge over Junction Creek in Balhannah are continuing with the majority of works being undertaken during the day. Traffic will be moved onto the westbound lane from 4 September 2024, so the Department can work on the other side of the bridge.

Work will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Some night works will be required in mid-September for approximately 3 nights between 7pm and 5am, weather permitting to carry out asphalt works. Properties in the vicinity of these works will be provided advance notice prior to night works commencing and onsite signage will be in place.

To safely facilitate these works, traffic will continue to be reduced to a single lane on Onkaparinga Valley Road with temporary traffic signals in place to control the direction of traffic, at all times. Speed restrictions will be in place throughout the work area for the duration of the project. Please follow traffic management directions while works are in progress and take extra care when workers are on site.

During the works, there will be some noisy disruptions from time to time, and the Department will do their best to keep the noise to a minimum.

Bridge works are expected to be complete late September 2024, weather permitting. Minor finishing works will be undertaken following the completion of these works.
