Verge Maintenance Community Engagement Outcomes and Next Steps
Council undertook consultation with the community members within Hamilton Hill Estate, regarding future verge maintenance preferences. We received 53 responses regarding three potential options for the future maintenance of verges in front of residential properties. We had 24 residents wanting to maintain their own verge, 5 electing council to maintain their verge, 9 residents opted for verge parking and 16 had further queries.
A Summary Report is available under the Document Library. From here, given the mixed responses, council will in the short term continue to deliver verge maintenance, whilst planning a more holistic verge maintenance strategy. We will develop a concept plan of proposed verge modifications to be shared with residents and property owners for further consideration and feedback during the second half of 2025.
Council staff are also working on a Verge Maintenance Policy which will be delivered as part of the 26/27 financial year inline with the annual business plan.
What is happening with my S221 application?
Council staff are in the process of reviewing received applications from residents to modify their verges. As per above Council is preparing a concept plan of proposed verge modifications, individual requests to modify verges will be taken into consideration during the development of the overarching concept plan. This plan will be released to the community for feedback.
