Consultation has concluded
In accordance with section 10 of the Roads (Opening & Closing) Act, 1991, Adelaide Hills Council proposes to make a Road Process Order to close the the road reserve adjacent to 38 Sturt Valley Road, Upper Sturt.
The adjacent land owners approached Council to rectify a boundary encroachment onto the road reserve. The encroachment is a historic building to the Stirling District – it was an old packing house for flowers, fruit and vegetables on the property which was owned by the Pink family. The current land owners want to restore the building and want to ensure that the building remains within their property boundary, which currently is not the case. Their intention is to restore and preserve the historic building. The land owners are seeking to not only to preserve the building, but they also are maintaining the Indigenous flora and fauna to the area.
The land owners are seeking to acquire an area of 572 square metres of road reserve (Road Closure Plan Attached). The road reserve in this area comprises mostly a steep embankment to the western side of the sealed portion of Sturt Valley Road.
A detailed report including plans of the site is available in the document library to the right of this page.
