Improving connectivity and making our towns more accessible and functional

FOOTPATHS/CONNECTIVITY
Footpaths, bikeways and trails form key components to the connectivity of our Council area. They provide safe access for pedestrians, bicycles, mobility scooters and the like, connecting townships via main roads, trails and residential side streets.

Our Capital Works program prioritises infrastructure investment based on function, condition and safety.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Public transport throughout the Adelaide Hills has been identified as an important issue by a broad cross section of the community. Public transport is extremely important on a number of levels and provides a cost effective means of travelling to, from and within the Council area

The benefits are multiple and include, but are not limited to:

  • Increased Social inclusion/community participation;

  • Access to employment;

  • Increased tourism;

  • Supports active lifestyles;

  • Less stressful commuting;

  • Environmentally conscious, reduced pollution;

  • Can be more cost effective than commuting by a car; and

  • Reduced traffic congestion.

Whilst Council is not directly responsible for the provision of public transport, we can play an advocacy role through the Local Government Association (LGA) of South Australia, as well as exploring partnerships with key agencies and service providers.
