Update 4 May 2021
The Gumeracha Main Street Upgrade project will deliver a range of improvements, including underground power lines, a new stormwater system, better pedestrian connectivity and a safer streetscape environment for Gumeracha’s ‘Village Heart’. This community streetscape project is delivered in close partnership with SA Power Networks, the Gumeracha Main Street Group and the Gumeracha Community Association.
The first part of the project, undergrounding of power lines is being delivered by SA Power Networks.
Latest News
Works for the undergrounding of the power lines are in their last stages. SAPN’s contractor have completed all low voltage property connections as well as all cabling works. The energising of cables and the feed-in switch over are scheduled to be completed by mid-June. You might have noticed that the new light columns are currently stored at the Gumeracha oval.
Contractors will be in touch with every household and trader to work out the best time for the switch over from overhead to underground power connections. By end of June all undergrounding works should be complete and overhead cables and stobie pole are supposed to come down from mid-June on!
Due to the delay in the undergrounding works, the stormwater works along Albert Street are now planned for a start in July 2021.
The streetscape upgrade works were tendered successfully and Adelaide Hills Council engaged PLOT Works to deliver this exciting part of the Gumeracha facelift project. Construction of the footpath, kerb and landscaping works is to commence August / September.
Next Steps
- Complete undergrounding works for the power lines.
- Remove overhead cables and stobie pole by end of June.
