Update 31 July 2020

Works are well underway now for the undergrounding of the power lines. Recently. the new footpath to the Rocking Horse has been completed and looks great! And finally, the art wall has commenced and will be completed in the next 4-6 weeks.

Trench works for the undergrounding of power lines along Albert Street have crept towards Gumeracha centre and are starting to have an impact on parking for shops as well as on driveways. The trenches will be reinstated with bitumen on Monday, 3 August which will help with the current level of sand and dust along Albert Street.

Naturally, there are inconveniences with a job this size but SAPN’s contractor Schwarz Construction are talking to all affected parties to try to minimise disruptions where possible. As mentioned previously, to achieve the best for Gumeracha, this big project will require the help and patience from the whole community.

Tenders for the construction of the stormwater upgrade have been called and council aims to engage a contractor by September.

Next Steps

  • Close and assess tender submissions for construction of stormwater upgrade.
