Council maintains a broad range of infrastructure and assets, and provides an array of services for our community. In order to build and maintain infrastructure and assets, and deliver meaningful and valuable services for our community, we engage numerous product, equipment and service suppliers through a rigorous procurement process.
To help you understand Council’s procurement process and how to develop compelling responses to requests for tender, we are hosting procurement information sessions.
What is procurement?
Procurement is the process of buying goods and services. For a council, this could be anything from office supplies, professional services and utilities to roads, footpaths and heavy vehicles — and everything in between.
When procuring goods and services, Council is guided by the following procurement principles which provide structure and transparency while aiming to deliver the best value for our community:
- Encouragement of open and effective competition
- Obtaining value for money
- Probity, ethical behaviour and fair dealing
- Accountability, transparency and reporting
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation
- Sustainable procurement
- Work health and safety
