Established date
It’s widely accepted that both the Kaurna and Peramangk Nations occupied this part of the hills. From a Colonial History perspective Crafers was started with the Hotel run by David Crafers, which then the township grew from. David Crafers arrived in the area in April 1838 and by Dec 1838 was running the Stringybark Hotel. Source: “Under Mt Lofty” – Robert Martin p 24-30. Therefore the establishment date is referenced as est. c. 1838.
Funding
The park and the new sign are funded by a Federal Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program Grant which is due to run out on 30 June. This means we have only a short time to understand what you think before the order for the sign has to be placed.
