How is the Project Funded?
The Project is funded jointly by the Federal Government ($2.6M), State Government ($ 2.6M) and Adelaide Hills Council ($ 500,000)
Who is responsible for building the path?
Council as part of its contribution to ensure that the path is completed, is undertaken the project management and construction management for the project.
Who will maintain the path once it is built?
Council will be responsible for the on-going maintenance of the path from Mount Torrens to Birdwood. This will involve looking after the sealed surface, bridges and maintaining the vegetation along the corridor.
The section from Oakbank through to Mount Torrens (Oval Road) will remain the responsibility of the State Government to maintain.
What about horses?
Horses can use the path; however, we have had feedback about the existing section, and the difficulty horses have in crossing the bridges and the surface. We are considering how we batter cater for horses along this section.
