In late 2017 changes instigated by the South Australian Government to the Local Government Act 1999 and the Local Government (General) Regulation 2013 to facilitate the growth of Mobile Food Vending Businesses (Food Trucks) came into effect.
As a result of these changes, Councils across the state are developing and adopting Location Rules that nominate where Food Trucks can operate in their area.
Stage 1:
The conversation commenced in January 2018 with Stage 1 consultation through an online survey and direct contact with local residents and businesses to guide the development of Location Rules. Preliminary Locations were adopted by Council at its 27 February 2018 to meet the 1 March 2018 timeline.
Stage 2:
Based on this feedback Council is now seeking feedback on eight sites that are proposed as pre-approved Food Truck operating areas and a proposal to allow Food Trucks to propose sites to be assessed against Location Rules.
The proposed locations and the specific site rules and the proposed Location Rules that each site will be assessed against can be viewed in the Document Library .
Anyone with an interest in where and how Food Trucks are permitted to operate within the Council area are encouraged to get involved.
We are seeking your feedback on the following matters:
Thoughts or comments in relation to the eight sites selected for pre-approval; and
Thoughts or comments on the drafted four Location Rules.
Tell us what you think by completing the survey.

Council has selected eight pre-approved sites for Food Trucks to operate with the required permits.
These sites will be published on the Council's website and along with the Location Rules, each site will have site specific rules. For example:
Only x Food Trucks are permitted at any one time
Site is not to be used when any organised sport is being played
We want to know what you think about the Location Rules, the pre-approved sites and the site specific rules for each. Once you've read the documents in the Documents Library, please complete the survey and provide your comments below.
