Project Update

Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback as part of this initial stage of designing the play space at Charleston Centennial Park.

Your feedback has been reviewed and collated into a Consultations Outcome Report, take a look now.

Our next steps are to:

  • engage a play space designer to develop a concept plan (a drawing of what the play space could look like, based on your feedback)
  • show you the concept plan and get your feedback
  • start planning the play space build.

To read more about how we go about Play Space upgrades read this handy fact sheet.

We will use this project page to keep you updated on progress - if at any time you have any questions you can call or email our team:

Background

This play space upgrade was identified in the Council’s 2019/20 Annual Business Plan and $120,000 has been allocated to undertake the works.

The Charleston play space is classified as a ‘Local’ Play Space. A ‘Local’ Play Space in the Adelaide Hills Council is:

  • An area intended for local play, often equipment based
  • Visited by people who live nearby, sometimes by foot, for a short period of time.

Approximately half of the $120,000 will need to cover landscaping and site preparation and the other half will be used for play space elements (eg equipment, seating, nature play elements and signage).

Not included in the project is lighting, bbqs, public toilets, parking and fencing.

Imagine your play space

Tell us about your favourite play space. Maybe it is a real space, maybe it is a space you have imagined.

What does it look like?

What does it feel like?

What can you do there?

Why is this your favourite?

CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

There is a park run that I sometimes attend near there. I would like to see permanent work out equipment in the park so that this community can warm up, cool down or just exercise with this equipment. I also use the toilet there frequently so an upgrade of those facilities would be great too.
