Thank you to the 32 individuals who visited our page and reviewed the proposal to name the new road in the land division at 14 Kenton Valley Road, Lobethal 'Hughes Place'. 10 submissions were received 5 showing support for the proposed name, 1 not supportive, 3 had alternative suggestions (which were considered and deemed not as appropriate for this particular location) and 1 was not clear and raised other issues not related to the naming of the road.
Council have contacted the developer and advised that the name Hughes Place is acceptable and that they can proceed with lodgement on that basis.
Council can assign a name to a public road under Section 219 of the Local Government Act 1999.
As part of a land division at 14 Kenton Valley Road, Lobethal, a new public road will be established. The proposed name for this new road is 'Hughes Place'.
Council's Public Place and Road Naming Policy considers suggestions including referring to a person who has made a significant community contribution, which applies on this occasion.
The Road is proposed to be named in honour of the late Garry Hughes, founder of Hughes Construction.
The community is welcome to have their say on the proposed name for this new road.

Collect a hardcopy submission form from any Council Service Centre or Library or in the key documents on the right.
Interested persons are invited to make a written submission regarding the proposed new road name by no later than 5pm, Tuesday 24 August 2021.
