Community Land Management

Section 193 of the Local Government Act 1999 states that all land owned by a council or under a council’s care, control and management, other than roads, is classified as 'community land' unless the council has resolved to exclude it from community land.

Adelaide Hills Council holds over 400 parcels of 'community land' for the benefit of the community. These parcels of land are registered in Council's Community Land Register, Sept 2020. Each of these parcels of community land are categorised as one of 12 key land types and are managed under corresponding management plans in Council's Community Land Management Plans and Register 2019. The 12 key land types include: conservation, informal recreation, community use, halls and institutes, recreation and sport, cemeteries, walkways and other land held for access purposes, drainage reserves, vehicle access restrictions, civic purposes, emergency services and multi-purpose sites.
